CEI Summer English School

For the children of Mino City to develop the ability to survive without wandering in this turbulent society, they need to learn the ability to accept a variety of individualities during their youth.

By interacting with people from different cultures, the need to respect each other's differences will be acquired, as well as strong values and new forms of creativity.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) in Japan is working to improve English education in 2020, with the aim of strengthening English communication. These improvements can be achieved by implementing the following:

English education starting in the 3rd grade
English as a subject for 5th and 6th graders
English immersion classes at the Junior High School level

Given these situations, the Cultural Exchange Initiative (CEI) will open an English School this summer (from July to August) in Mino, Gifu, Japan. The curriculum outlines of the school are summarized below:

The four-week program, Monday through Friday
Two classes in the morning, lunch, then 2-3 classes in the afternoon
Class size: 15 students (max.) in each level

3 different levels:

Beginner 1: for 3-year olds, to the lower grades of elementary school (must be accompanied by parents)
Beginner 2: for 3rd-grade children and above, as well as adults, who know the English alphabet
Intermediate: for those who understand English taught at the Junior High School level

CEI will hire experienced native English teachers/tutors as ESL instructors for the Beginner 2 and the Intermediate levels.
